` ROLEPLAY SAMPLE,
Jay sat in the Quad of Brentwood, whistling loudly to himself as he carved and not caring a jot if it was irritating the people sitting around him. He was trying to get over an argument he had just had with one of the other students on campus. Once again he had become far too stubborn and unmoving, emotionally investing himself in his position – even though it was completely wrong. He didn’t really care though; he had just wanted to get up the other kid’s nose. He didn’t know what it was, but Jay had known from the moment the other kid had opened his mouth that a whole tirade of stupid would have come out. Well, it wasn’t so stupid what the kid had said. Whatever. He had only taken his position he knew because it was the complete opposite. True, not a grand way to make friends – but then that had never been Jay’s primary goal. His primary goal was, and had always been, to learn. Why else would he be at University? Friends were nice but he wasn’t going to go out of his way to make them.
He sighed a little, letting loose some of the emotion he had bottled up inside him. He wasn’t particularly worried about people noticing. Besides, he doubted anyone would be looking close enough at his face to notice anyway. He chewed at his lip as he blew the last shavings off the little horse he had been carving and held it up in the sunlight, considering it while twisting it from side to side. Maybe I should try giving you to the Turkish embassy he thought to himself with a small chuckle just to see if they’d take you in. You wooden horse you . He rested the horse on the grass next to him and sat back, taking in a deep breath of the fresh air. He was half waiting to see if this, like his canary, would come to life but after a few seconds of waiting he shrugged, figuring it wasn't quite good enough to have been animated. He glanced around him, thinking. He did love this university – he honestly did. Particularly moments like this. Sure he could be studying, or catching up on his reading, but right at that moment he was more concerned with just staring up at the sky through the leaves of the tree he had seated himself under.
