` ROLE-PLAY EXAMPLE,
When Rose was three years old, she had gone to an open market in the German countryside with her Mumi Flan. She remembered clearly how Mumi Flan wore a pastel green dress that brought out her eyes and golden hair that went down her slender back. She remembered her white flats with the floral print on them and way the sun would dance across her gold skin. She remembered how her hand would grab her own and she would suddenly feel the strange urge to want to run, but take her with her; not to get away. She remembered the little pastel pink dress she wore was a little bit too big because she had always been too tiny for her age and how her bleach blond hair would curve around her chin, held away from her face with a big matching pink ribbon. Her flats matched Mumi Flan's because her Titi Lily had made them specifically for them. It was a perk to having an aunt that was an internationally famous fashion designer. She remembered holding her toy pig, a stuffed animal that she had since birth since she was born on the year of the pig according to the Chinese. She remembered how hot the summer heat was and how Mumi Flan let go of her hand for a second to reach into her white purse and grab her phone because Mumi Cass was calling to remind her to take a lot of pictures of their day so she could see what they saw.
But then everything was blurry and the next thing she remembered was walking through a sea of legs, clutching Piggy to her chest tightly and not being able to scream out her mother's name in order to find her. She remembered feeling the panic rise within her and the sudden feeling that she was slipping off the face of the earth and that no one would be there to save her because her mum was gone...She disappeared out of nowhere. She remembered reaching a statue that was bronze like her mother's skin and tall just like her. She immediately felt her heart racing, hope rising in an attempt to reveal whether it was her or not but when she reached the statue, she realized it was just that: a statue. Then she started feeling the tears forming in her large, azure orbs as she finally looked up at all the faces. They looked like monsters, demented in their own ways as they simply looked past her and she clung to the statue, hiding behind its warm legs and in its shadow, too fearful and hoping Mumi Flan would return to her soon. Then she remembered the sea of monsters parting like the Red Sea for Moses and Mumi Flan rushing toward her, calling her name, with tears in her own eyes and Rose didn't understand what kind of tears they were. Maybe they were of fear like her's or happiness at the realization her daughter hadn't been abducted but had simply wandered off by mistake. And then she felt her warmth as she picked her up and held her closely, apologizing and telling her she loved her over and over.
Rose never felt so safe in her life as she let her muscles relax, melting into the comfort of the only person she ever trusted in her entire life.
Now it was thirteen years later and this time it wasn't Rose who left by mistake. It was Mumi Flan. Walking through the open market, this time on the other side of the world, she felt her size five feet were like lead and that somehow she was making them drag on. The memory was the first one she could ever remember and it was why she never truly came to open markets but curiosity got the better of her. That and the maid always bought Mu's food from here. Now, instead of a stuffed animal, she had a real miniature pot belly pig on his leash waddling in front of her happily. Her slender fingers clutched the end of the leash tightly and Mu new better than to leave her side. It was like animals had a sixth sense for these kind of things and Mu was no different.
The petite bleach blond wore a navy tank top with a white and navy striped cardigan, a coral colored skirt and matching bag, white wedges, and the white headband in her hair with the bow, as always, on the right side. She had nothing but mascara and chap stick for makeup and her ever present R diamond necklace, given to her by her grandfather, sat on her collarbone, matching star earring studs in her ears. Glancing down at Mu as the piglet looked up, she gave him a reassuring smile as if he were human or something and continued on through the sea of people, no longer monsters but simply strangers she would never be able to relate to. But were they really just strangers? Or were they actually monsters in disguise? She could never tell these days. But just as her mind was occupied with the haunting memories of a dead mother she would never see again and everything connecting to it, Mu suddenly managed to slip free and was racing through the legs of people. Immediately, panic seeped into the bones of Rose and she was suddenly dashing off after him, "Mu!" she practically screamed it out frantically as she easily slipped through people, attempting to keep her bright blue orbs on the piglet that was only the size of a chihuahua, "Mu! Mu, come back!" it didn't help that her German accent made her English sound absolutely atrocious...
But the only thing, now, occupying her mind was finding that pig...because he was, in a way, the only true company the sixteen year old had since her mother passed away.
